At this seminar you will learn about the “Aid & Attendance Benefit” for wartime veterans and their surviving spouses.  Wartime veterans may qualify for up to $1,519/month while surviving spouses may receive up to $976/month

Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders
Avenue Assisted Living, 400 Community Drive
Parkinson’s disease is a group of conditions called motor system disorders which usually affect people over the age of 50.  At present, there is no cure for Parkinson’s, but a variety of medications provide dramatic relief from the symptoms.  Janet Straka, MSN, Advanced Practitioner/Neurology from Lakewood Hospital’s Neurological Integrated Care Unit, will present the latest treatment options and support organizations for patients and their families.

In honor of Presidents Day, Christy Igo will be joining us and portray “Mary Todd Lincoln”, the wife of President Abraham Lincoln.  Christy does a wonderful job in her portrayals – you may remember her when she visited us as “Mae West” not too long ago.  A fun and educational afternoon you will not want to miss.

“Atrial Fibrillation”
Grace Hall – Main  Street Care Center, 500 Community Drive
Towne Center Community Campus welcomes Thomas Edel, MD, electrophysiologist and Joseph Lahorra, MD, cardiothoracic surgeon for their presentation, “Atrial Fibrillation:  What You Really Need to Know”.   Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia and is often diagnosed in people who experience no symptoms.  Treatment options will be discussed. 

Wednesday, February 20th – 6 to 8 pm
“Arthritis of the Hand & Staying Active with Arthritis”
Grace Hall – Main Street Care Center, 500 Community Drive
Dr. David Shapiro and Dr. Laura Goldberg from the Cleveland Clinic’s Orthopaedic office in Lorain will be presenting on arthritis of the hand and how to stay active with arthritis.  Treatment options and daily living tips for those experiencing hand/wrist arthritis along with information on staying active and preventing injuries will be discussed.

Buttons Presentation

Join us for a very interesting afternoon as Alfrieda Taylor shares her button collection with us.  Alfrieda has buttons from around the world with some interesting stories to go along with them.  If you have any special buttons that you think might be of some value, feel free to bring them in and Alfrieda might be able to tell you about their value.
