The Willows at Smithville Western
A special care unit for the person with Alzheimer's or dementia.
The Willows is unique and represents years of planning and staff development. Its director and staff members have extensive experience in long-term care and are devoted to meeting the needs of your loved one with sensitivity, respect and honor. Our caregivers strive to give each resident a sense of purpose and to enhance his or her feelings of self-worth. Our staff-to-resident ratio is higher than at other area facilities, allowing more time for individual attention.
The Willows is totally self-contained. It is bright and cheery, yet quiet and serene. Resident's rooms are comfortably furnished and we welcome the addition of personal items that help the residents feel at home. There are several private dining areas, a kitchenette and an art studio. A newly-constructed great room with magnificent windows and an aviary, attracts residents and visitors alike. This plus the secure circular courtyard with its own gazebo, allows them to appreciate the beauty of the countryside.
An extensive activities program adds structure and meaning to each day. This includes cooking, exercise, arts and crafts, gardening and other activities tailored to the abilities and interests of our residents. Holidays and birthdays are celebrated with enthusiasm, just like home, and daytime pets visit on a regular basis. We encourage family members and friends to take part in our daily activities. This strengthens family ties and makes our residents feel more a part of the community.
Each resident is provided an attending physician of his or her choice who monitors individual medical needs and is available on a 24-hour basis.
